What to Wear Sandboarding in Cape Town

Think bright white sand, open sky and a climb back to the top after every ride. Wear clothes that let you move freely, bring sunglasses and sunscreen, and keep your original valid passport or South African ID with you for check-in.

01

Dress for the ride and the climb

Choose clothes you can bend, sit and walk in comfortably. You may end up with sand in your pockets, so wear something you do not mind getting sandy. Shoes that feel secure on loose ground will help on the walk back up the dune.

02

Bring shade with you

The pale dunes are exposed to the sun. Sunglasses and sunscreen make it easier to enjoy the view from the top and the rides that follow. Plan for time outdoors before and after the 90-minute session as well.

03

Keep your ID and payment card handy

Every rider needs an original valid passport or South African ID for the City of Cape Town indemnity form. A photo of the document is not enough. Without the original, you cannot take part.

Bring a card or another accepted electronic payment method for the separate R96 reserve permit per person. Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled start for check-in and the safety briefing.

04

Leave these behind

Drones are not allowed. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted at the activity, and you cannot take part under their influence.

With the practical things packed, you can look forward to the ride. Read what your first run feels like or where to meet, then choose your date.
